 RECAP

Well as we all know that the last episode, A NEW DEAL, ended with Damon kissing Elena. This episode started the following morning with one of my personal favorites, Damon taking a shower, Damon gets out of the shower to see Stefan waiting for him announcing that he is late to meet Bonnie at the old witch house, that they have work to do to destroy Klaus. And Stefan notices Damon is very chipper. 

Then they went to Elena next beating the crap out of a punching bag. Two very different reactions to the kiss. And VERY funny. Alaric offers to help Elena with the bag, they talk about the rings weakness, and why Jeremy needs to get out of town. Alaric asks if everything is okay with Elena since she is really kicking the crap out of the bag, and she just says she needs coffee. Alaric says that Jeremy is excited about the move and Elena asks if Alaric has talked to Damon that day but wont say why she asked. 

Then we see Bonnie getting very frustrated trying to open the mysterious coffin ( I think its klaus' mommy.)but she hears something, which turns out to be a hybrid, just then we see Damon and Stefan walking outside the house when Damon senses a presence and immediately rushes to see Bonnie while Stefan waits outside to see the hybrid and Damon rips out his heart. 

CUE OPENNING credits. 

Next is Elena and Bonnie decorating Caroline's locker for her birthday. Both showed up late to do it and Elena asked Bonnie where she was, and Bonnie lies and says she was working on spells. Next they talk about how Elena asked Damon to compel Jeremy to leave town and Bonnie gets upset at Elena's decision. Bonnie wants to tell Jeremy, but Elena says maybe she should just say goodbye.

Then were back to the coffin and Damon beating it with a shovel. Stefan knows its a waste of time as he has also tried openning it with everything he can think of. They discuss who could be in the coffin and Bonnie thinks it will help them kill Klaus. the next move in there plan is to tell Klaus that they wants the hybrids gone. But both brothers have different views on the subject Damon wants to play defense, but Stefan wants to do the more direct approach. Calling Klaus bluff on killing all that Stefan cares about including Damon. 

Bonnie goes to see Jeremy and ask if he was even going to say goodbye, but he didnt think Bonnie would have cared. Jeremy thinks its a good thing until all the Klaus stuff blows over. 

Caroline and Tyler meet outside the school ( coldplay - UP IN FLAMES is playing in the background), Tyler wants to give Caroline her birthday present and say sorry for being syered, but Caroline knows that Tyler's #1 priority is Klaus, and it always will be Klaus now. Caroline says she is sorry, they break things off and he gives her, her gift: a beautiful charm bracelet.

Then we see Klaus talking to rebecca in her coffin, and Stefan shows up, Klaus says he is surprised to see him thinking Stefan would have left town but Stefan says its his home, and klaus says he was here first. The word game continues with Stefans ultimatum of getting rid of the hybrids, Klaus says no and he was hurt that Stefan ran when he free'd him. Klaus admits to getting moody, and asks for his siblings back. Stefan says if Klaus doesnt get his hybrids out of mystic falls he will remove them himself. Which klaus doesnt believe, and they argue about killing everyone. Stefan kills a hybrid nearby, leaving the ball in Klaus' court. 

Caroline gets home from school to see Elena Bonnie and Matt there to wish her a happy birthday. They are going to the falls, to celebrate, but Caroline isnt feeling her birthday because she is dead, so they through her a funeral instead, so she can let go of her past. They all arrive at the mausoleum and say goodbye to her old life, Caroline laughs and agrees, she says her own eulogy along with her friends, then blows out her candles, makes a wish and they start drinking Tequila. Caroline texts Tyler and Bonnie gets mad at Elena for lying to Jeremy again. Bonnie wants to tell Jeremy, and then she leaves. Tyler shows up to talk to Caroline and she agrees, leaving Elena and Matt alone to reminisce about the past and the crazy life they are all stuck living.

Tyler says that he takes back what he said that Klaus cant control everything then he tells her he loves her, kisses her and kisses her again, then he bites her, completely by accident. She tells him to get the hell away from her and he runs, then Matt and Elena are searching for Caroline and Stefan shows up to kidnap Elena.

Tyler goes to see Klaus and Klaus wants Tyler's help, in killing Caroline. Which Tyler refuses to do. He wont hurt Caroline. 

Damon and Alaric go to the councilors meeting and talk about who is going to live and die if this continues. Alaric asks Damon if he knows whats up with Elena, and he says its Stefan. Then Meredith fell walks in and starts talking to Meredith. she knows about the vampires. She was looking for Damon for a donation when she mentions a british guy who gave a large donation (Klaus). Damon see's Klaus talking to Carol (tyler's mom) and she is on Klaus' side. they have an arguement that if the council stays out of klaus and his hybrids way then he wont kill any people. But Stefan has to stop killing the hybrids or the council will take action against them. Damon and liz talk about how Stefan needs to stand down, then we see Meredith talking to an ex boyfriend when Alaric steps in. The ex says she is a psycho case, and they ask him to leave. The ex is the medical examiner and Meredith has to work with him. Stefan shows up at the party and kills another hybrid, and Damon steps in to stop him again. warning him about Elena, but tells Damon that Elena is his problem now, and that to beat the villain you have to be a better villain.

Stefan has Elena in his car and takes Elena's phone when Damon calls saying he is beginning phase two of his plan. He says what is Klaus going to do if he cant make any more hybrids, then he throws her phone out the window. Damon goes to see Klaus, to try to convince him to get rid of the hybrids, but Klaus doesn't believe that Stefan would kill Elena, Damon says that Stefan is operating on crazy and Klaus finds it funny, their love wont die, Damon doesnt feel like he is bluffing, and tells Klaus to blink when stefan says so. Elena and Stefan are driving and she asks his plan, he says he is going to kill her, or turn her into a vampire, Elena FLIPS out and tells him to stop the car. He calls Klaus and tells him he is going to drive his blood supply off of Wickery Bridge then he feeds Elena his blood, and she starts screaming at him. He tells Klaus to say goodbye to his family and then he speeds up and Klaus agrees, saying Stefan won. Elena jumps out of the car and tells Stefan to stay away from her, and she tells him that her parents died there, she almost died there, and she starts balling, then she says what if Klaus didn't believe him, what then. Stefan says that he had to believe it, knowing Klaus' weakness. Stefan says destroying Klaus is all he has left, Elena says you had me. And Stefan says not since I left with him, you haven't let me go yet but you gave up on me, then he tells her he doesn't care about what she thinks about him any more and he drives away, leaving Elena on the bridge.

Then we see Matt with Caroline, at her house announcing to Liz that Tyler bit Caroline. She says she is sorry to her mom, and is hallucinating. Then Klaus shows up saying that Tyler went to see him all dis trot, and Liz invites Klaus inside to heal Caroline. He goes inside sees Caroline and she asks if he is going to kill her he says on your birthday, you really think that low of me, she says yes, then he looks at her bite, and he heals her, saying she was collateral damage, nothing personal. He tells her how lucky she is to be a vampire and do whatever she wants in the world, to celebrate being free and how meaningful her life truly is. he says happy birthday 

Then we are back on Elena's front porch Damon picked her up from the bridge and they are standing just how they were at the end of the last episode, he asks if she will be okay, she says she will survive, Damon says they won this round, and Stefan was the better villain, he touches her face, she says she cant kiss him again, its not right, he says he knows, and that its right, just not right now. Goodnights are exchanged, and she watches him leave. 

Then we see Elena hugging Jeremy and telling him to be safe, Bonnie comes to see Jeremy and say goodbye, while looking at Elena with a lot of anger.Jeremy looks back at them and then walks off the steps. 

We see Caroline wake up the next day all better with a birthday gift from Klaus on the table, a bracelet all diamond-y. Then we see Matt and Elena on Wickery bridge talking about what Matt said about being stuck, and she admits to feeling stuck with the girl who was normal, didn't fall in love with vampires and was suppose to die. She says she feels like she disappointed her old self, and Matt gives Elena's old self a funeral too, Eulogy, dandelions and all.

Finally we see Alaric at mystic grill talking to Meredith Fell again who says she lost a patient and that is why she is there drinking asks Alaric's excuse, he says he just put a kid on a plane, (Jeremy) CUT SCENE  Liz and Damon are in the forest she says that there is a death, the EX of Meredith and its a murder because he wasn't a vampire but he was staked.
